Since 2004, West Kentucky Runners Club has helped runners and race directors grow in the West Kentucky region. That tradition continues today with our mission of "Making West KY a Great Place to Run", through great community activities, and helping local races adopt best practices for their runners
We'd like to especially thank our original founding members... Steve Durbin, John Durbin, Bill Halicks, Ron Golden, Mark Vance and all the valued supporters through the years that have made our running community so special! We stand on your shoulders.
Better Races and Discounts
One of our main goals is to help promote best practices for races in the region. We want to work with race directors to ensure that they have the runners experience in mind when they organize their events. These races can become "WKY Runners Approved", so runners can be confident these events will be great to participate in. As a WKY Runners member you will have access to special discounts with participating races!. Become a member to help us raise the bar, and make West KY a great place to race!

Welcome to West Kentucky Runners!
West Kentucky Runners is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization, and an official member of the Road Runners Club of America. Your membership helps us cover the cost of insurance to host community events, and support local races to keep their standards focused on enhancing the runners experience. We believe it is a great privilege to be a part of a community with such a rich history of running, and with your help we would like to help more people of all abilities and walks of life to become a part of this tradition as well.
West Kentucky Runners consists of a revolving board of officers and voting members. All members are asked to serve up to 2 years to ensure an invested personal interest, and a democratic process of club decisions.

Race Directors... Why Make Your Race "WKY Runners Approved"?
The "Local Race" Problem
There are so many great races that happen in the West Kentucky area each year. So many of these races support great causes, and are run by great organizations. Unfortunately, some races aren't fully aware of the things that enhance the runners experience, and make it a great race that runners want to come back to each year.
Our organization has a team that will work with local race directors to make sure they have a understanding of suggested best practices, and what's most important to runners who run their race. One bad race experience can drastically reduce the number of registered runners the following year. We know what runners are really looking for, and we want your race to succeed.
It's Completely Free
Making your race a WKY Runners approved race will cost you nothing. Our consulting is completely free all for the benefit of making your race a great experience for your runners. You can even use our logo on your race shirts to give it that great professional look.
Expertise Consulting
Our organization consists of veteran race directors, timers, business owners, and marketers. You can be confident we will help you and point you in the right direction at every turn.
Amplified Marketing
If your race is WKY Runners approved, then your marketing efforts will be even more amplified. Not only will we promote your race on our website, but it will also be included in our email and social media campaigns. MOST IMPORTANTLY, you will be plugged into the runners pipeline by word of mouth. Once we get the word out that your race is approved, runners in the area will be excited that they can count on your race being a good one.
